The things you can do while you are at Easy Street Retreat are numerous. What gives you access to all these options is the uniqueness of the Retreat. It is located at the Bellinger River upper reaches and the water here is crystal clear with the swimming holes deep. The Bellinger River National park rainforest is also on the other side of the river, and this place itself is a great spot for a lot of adventure. When you come to Easy Street Retreat, you will not just be resting; you will also have an overall good time.
Animal Watching
If you’ve ever wanted to see a platypus in the wild, here’s your chance! A local farming identity will take you on a platypus spotting expedition of about 1 hour’s duration. A fantastic opportunity to see these shy and endearing creatures! No platypus – no pay policy. It is not only platypus that you will get to see, but there are other animals too, such as turtles, catfish, eels, endangered freshwater cod, and bearded dragons. You will get to see these animals, some of which are endemic to the area.
River Viewing and Meditation
If you are looking for a great place to rest and let all your worries out, this is one of the best places to come. You can just sit in the lush greenery, enjoying the cool breeze and watching the river flow while you meditate. The flow of the river is known to be very soothing, and there is perhaps a no better place to try it out than here.
Visit the Bellinger River National Park
The Bellinger River National Park is just on the other side of the river. It is an untouched wilderness filled with valleys, steep slopes, and waterfalls. Going there will give you a glimpse of what nature has to offer and what the city people are missing out on. You can spend some time exploring the rainforests and old-growth forests of this Park. Since the Park doesn’t have marked walking tracks, you can get a local to take you exploring or better still, if you are an experienced bushwalker, you can do it yourself. You can go as far as Griffiths Lookout which is at the Park’s northern edge to get a spectacular view of the coast.
Local Festivals
The time of the year that you decide to come can also give you the chance to attend various local festivals in the neighbouring towns. No matter what your taste is, there is always a festival that matches your vibe. The Bellingen Jazz and Blues Festival is a great festival where you will enjoy the best of Jazz and blues music; there is also the Bellingen Music Festival for classical music where local and international classical music stars will be giving you the sublime music that touches the soul directly. The Bellingen River Festival is another major celebration for you to attend. It is a unique festival with concerts, dance, artistic creations, workshops, exhibitions, and many more.
