Getting to know us
Easy Street Retreat is a five-acre property on the Bank of Bellinger River in the north coast of New South Wales that provides a serene environment for patrons who are trying to get a break from the hustle and bustle of daily life. The property offers patrons an amazing opportunity to have a great time and relax in an ambient and quiet environment.
The Retreat is located in a unique spot as it is bordered by the Bellinger River where you will see platypus, turtles, eels, catfish. Bearded dragons and endangered freshwater cod. On the other side of the river is the Bellinger River National Park, a wilderness of rainforest, steep slopes, valleys, streams and waterfalls. It is right in the middle of both Bellingen and Dorrigo – with both a 30 min drive away from it.
The region and close townships
From the 1970s until the today, alternative lifestylers bought land in the Bellinger area and built homes. Since then, several communities have been established, and many of them still exist. The rural lifestyle of the region has now changed and is a mixture of traditional and modern farming. Most of the residents today, such as craftspeople, artists, writers, horticulturists, and musicians have home-based activities they practise.
Bellingen
This is a small town about half an hour’s drive east from the Retreat. It has a supermarket, hospital, general practitioners, chemist, estate agents, restaurants, coffee shops and other specialty shops.
The town has a strong affiliation with the arts and hosts many annual festivals such as Camp Creative, Bellingen Jazz and Blues Festival, the Bellingen Music Festival for classical music, Bellingen River Festival, the Bellingen Readers and Writers Festival, and the Bellingen Art Prize. It also hosts other regular events including the Bellopy Organic Market, Bellingen Community Market, and Bello Bards, just to name a few.
Dorrigo
This town is on the west of the Easy Street Retreat and hosts the annual Folk and Bluegrass Festival.
